The Longest Night

The Longest Night

The longest night of the year was actually yesterday, with the Solstice, but tonight is also a pretty long one and I'm hunkering down with some tea and take-out and preparing to do Susannah Conway's "Unraveling Your Year" workbook. It's been such a chaotic year of therapy, introspection, changes, growth, and loss but also there were some pretty big dreams manifested. It just seems like a good idea to stop and take stock. I did Susannah's "Unraveling" course many years ago and I found it to be profoundly meaningful at that time. Which, funnily enough, was also right on the heels...

We've Moved!

We've Moved!

We did it! As of December 3rd, Maia & Rainwood Design is PDX local. Look for us at events and shows around the Pacific Northwest starting in 2019. We couldn't be happier to be based out of North Portland now. Dream come true! While all of my tools are still on the truck as of this writing, all of our shop stock currently listed is available for holiday shipping and orders (I brought it up in my car). We're offering free shipping through the end of the year, with the code FREESHIPHOLIDAYS at checkout. Thanks for all your support!

Free holiday shipping!

I don't usually do holiday sales or promotions. I don't spam people's inboxes with last minute deals or stuff on Black Friday. Just not how I roll. But, in honor of our upcoming (two weeks! cue the nail biting) move to Portland Oregon, and the many winter holidays and festivals that are fast approaching us, M&R will be offering free holiday shipping to all our friends in the US and Canada, from now through the end of December. Just enter the code FREESHIPHOLIDAYS at checkout. It's our little gift to you. Whatever lights you kindle, whatever traditions you mark during the dark...

Which were a joy to make, don't get me wrong, but I felt so bad whenever I cast on for something for myself that I'd give it away the second I bound it off. This is not fun. People, for the love of little green apples, don't give the knitters in your life a hard time. Don't guilt-trip them for not gifting you with more things. Don't straight up demand their...

A little teaser of stuff on the fringe

A little teaser of stuff on the fringe

The world is spinning around pretty fast these days. I've been spending as much time in my studio as I can, distracting myself with creation at every opportunity. Remember, every act of creation right now is also an act of resistance. Whatever it takes to get through all of this, right? I've got some fun stuff coming up in the next shop update, which is October 1st at 6pm. Not much of a thoughtful blog today, more of a picture post.  Folks who have read my blog over the years know that I've never shied away from the political or the...
