March musings

Anticipation is a weird one for me, at least when it comes to “things on the calendar” that relate to other people. Especially during this pandemic!  It has been painful to make and hope for plans based on dips in the numbers, only to have a new variant rise and send things back into a spin again.  Still, I find myself anticipating a few things. The flowers of spring and early summer. Poppies, lilac, bachelor buttons, tulips, and crocus. Herbs and sweet snap peas. I love walking through the neighborhoods around our home in the PNW, seeing the blooms in people’s...

Ukraine

Ukraine

One of my favorite books may be Anne Lamotte's "Help, Thanks, Wow". When I think about the kind of help I myself find myself asking for it's typically asking for support and for sustenance through the awful. Praying for little bits of grace or peace, for rest, for strength to get through one more moment. I've definitely experienced a lot of that in the last couple of years. So today I really am holding my hope and prayer around the people of Ukraine as they fight for their country and for their independence against Putin's invasion. A little bit like pulling some teeth

Well we did it. The first shop update in a little over 18 months. It's a small drop, but it's a drop! Somewhere in all the craziness, we somehow found time to move again only this time it was into what is hopefully going to be our forever home here in the PNW. Or at least our very long time home. We bought a house! How exciting! Anyway, all of these lovely pieces, which I'd hoped to have to you by Rosh Hashanah, are finally here. Better late than never, I guess! There are a few old pieces mixed in with the new. I...

Things change and change can be okay.

As COVID starts to surge again with the Delta variant, all of my hopeful plans for future festivals and local events have once again been tabled. We are back in distancing mode, masking, and largely isolating so that we can spend time with our young grandchildren safely. We wish for a pediatric vaccine so we can stop holding our breath about it. That is the reality of our day to day life again and I don't see it changing in time for the fall festival season or winter holidays either. And that is okay. The best thing we can do is get out of the...

This Interminable Year

Posted by Rain Kleindolph on

You may have noticed there are no products in the shop. I've paused selling in my store until the new year, in the hopes that things will pick up a bit. To be honest there have been no sales in months. I can't afford to pay the monthly fees if no one can afford to shop.  Most of us aren't working, so who can afford to shop for jewelry when paying the rent and eating are on the line? The reality is, it's time for a break. It's hard, I'm worried, but I'm also hopeful about a future where we manage to dig the...
