Roman glass and trade bead fringe earrings with Ma'anshan turquoise and Czech glass.Do you remember the Greek story about the sea witch, Circe, marooned on her lonely island? I don't want to go into the ancient Greeks marooning inconvenient women on islands, but, I will say it seems to have been a trend. One would think they'd have run out of islands. Or that eventually some of these women would start a feminist collective. But I digress.
I've always disagreed that Circe was lonely. One, there's nothing wrong with solitude and two, she had a bit of a reputation for turning pushy sailors into pigs.
Sometimes you just need a reminder that you can stand on your own two feet. You've got to have your own back before anyone else can. And sometimes you just have to turn someone into a pig if they don't take no for an answer.
These ancient rounds of Roman glass are offset with metal, glass and clay trade beads from Mali and Ghana, Ma'anshan turquoise, Dragon jasper, and Czech glass.
Be firmly rooted, stay grounded, always self-protective, and wise.
